Nkoni Parish celebrates 75 years
On 30th October 2016, the Catholic Community Nkoni Parish celebrated 75 years since their Parish was started in 1941. The Mass was presided over by His Lordship Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa the Ordinary of Masaka Diocese. In His Homily he hailed the people of Nkoni parish for their strong faith that led their Parish to be among those Parishes that are known of their spirit of self reliance. He cited out an example, that Nkoni Parish Church was built by the Parishioners without foreign aid. He said that Nkoni Parish contributes greatly to Diocese: financially and leaders at the Diocesan level.
Bishop Kaggwa hailed too all the Priests, Religious men and women and laity who have contributed to the development of this Parish. In a special way he cited out Fr. John Mayombwe the first Parish Priest(Pastor) of this Parish. He worked tirelessly in evangelizing and mobilizing the Christians to build a big and wonderful Church. He called upon the Christians of Nkoni to keep up their unity right from their families.
This occasion was graced among others by His eminency Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala who was once a Parish Priest of this Parish.
The Chief Guest was the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda Kingdom. He registered appreciation from the kingdom to the Catholic Church for the great contribution offered of providing spiritual, health, moral services to the people in Buganda and Uganda at large.
